In 2009, we brought our members and parents to Austria to experience the unique music training programme offered by the Johannes Brahms School of Music (JBSM) in Mürzzuschlag. The programme received an overwhelmingly positive response from participants and families alike. Encouraged by its success, we returned in 2011 to continue this meaningful musical exchange.

The Academy provides young musicians with a unique opportunity to learn, create, and share music alongside some of Austria’s most distinguished artists and professors. Beyond musical training, the Academy offers an ideal platform for students to immerse themselves in Austrian culture, gain exposure to the German language, and exchange ideas and experiences with fellow participants. Students will visit historic landmarks and follow in the footsteps of renowned composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Haydn, and Strauss. They will also be introduced to Austrian folk music and dance traditions, while collaborating with peers to form chamber ensembles and perform together. This enriching experience offers tremendous value to both students and parents and creates treasured lifelong memories of musical and personal growth.

FOR YOUR CHILD

Prof. Ernst Smole serves as Director of the Summer Music Academy. Together with an outstanding faculty of professional musicians and educators, he guides students through a comprehensive program that includes individual instrumental instruction, ensemble training, chamber music coaching, and masterclasses.

The Academy concludes with a public graduation concert, where students have the opportunity to showcase their achievements. Upon completion of the programme, each participant receives a graduation certificate presented by Prof. Smole.
