Austria

2007

Since its inception, the Austria Music Tour has received strong support and recognition from schools, music teachers, students, and parents. Building on this success, the World Music Academy introduced a new introductory programme designed for young learners and families who are beginning their musical journey. Through a combination of music appreciation, sharing sessions, cultural visits, and educational activities, the programme provides an engaging platform for students and parents to explore and enjoy music together.

The programme includes interactive music appreciation classes that introduce participants to the characteristics and styles of music from different periods. Students and parents will also visit the Johannes Brahms School of Music, where Prof. Ernst Smole, Director of the School, and Robert Rieder, conductor of the Vienna Boys' Choir, will share their insights on nurturing children's interest in music. Beyond music-related activities, the programme incorporates introductory German language lessons and Austrian folk dance workshops, allowing participants to gain a deeper understanding of Austrian culture.

Participants will also follow in the footsteps of some of Europe's greatest composers, visiting the homes and museums of Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Haydn, and the Strauss family. Through these visits, they will gain a greater appreciation of the lives, creative environments, and musical contributions of these masters. This unique programme enriches the lives of both students and parents, offering an inspiring journey of musical discovery that will be remembered for years to come.

BENEFITS FOR STUDENTS

Students will experience a wide variety of classical music forms and styles, including choral music, symphonic music, and works by the great composers. By visiting the homes and places associated with these musicians and learning directly from distinguished Austrian musicians and educators, participants will develop a broader understanding of music through listening, observation, and first-hand experience. These opportunities help build a strong foundation in music appreciation and cultural understanding.

BENEFITS FOR PARENTS

Meaningful music education is most effective when teachers, students, and parents work together. In Hong Kong, parents often support their children's musical development from the audience or sidelines. Through the World Music Academy, parents are encouraged to take a more active role by participating alongside their children in a variety of musical and cultural activities, including learning German songs and Austrian folk dances together.

Music is both enriching and enjoyable. Through this journey of discovery, we hope to inspire a greater love of music among families while helping parents deepen their understanding and appreciation of the art form. The shared experiences created throughout the programme also provide valuable opportunities for family bonding and lifelong memories.
