Orchestra-Lite and Metropolitan Pop & Jazz Principal Conductor
Foremost saxophone player Jacky Leung has won over 10 first prizes & other prizes in various international music competitions in Germany, North America, Canada & Japan. He is also the first saxophonist awarded a full scholarship from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund (Local Studies).
Jacky was praised by different magazines & organizations for his versatile musical styles in performances. He was invited as a guest soloist and chamber group in many local & international events and radio broadcasts. In 2023, he was invited to perform in Hong Kong Arts Festival. In May, he was invited to play in Hacken Lee’s pop concert as opening musician. In July, 2023 his founding group, Lucky 6 brass brand was also invited to play as the only instrument group in the reception to celebrate the 26th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR of the People’s Republic of China.
Apart from being a frequent soloist, Jacky also conducted masterclasses and workshops in various international institutions and saxophone events in the USA, China, Thailand and Malaysia etc. In 2017, Jacky was invited as the guest lecturer for the "Lao Shan Art Lecture" in Qingdao Grand Theatre, which was later aired on the Qing Dao TV Dangjian Channel. During 2017-2023, Jacky was also invited to host masterclasses & recitals at Thailand Mahidol University, Shantou University, Kuala Lumpur Performing Art Centre in Malaysia, China Annual Saxophone Congress, the North American Saxophone Alliance Region 3 Conference at the University of Minnesota & Asian Saxophone Festival. In 2023, he was invited as Hong Kong representative to join the Asian Saxophone Festival conducting masterclasses & performing solo in concert. He also became the committee member in organizing the 2024 Asian Saxophone congress. Adding to the above, Jacky also performed with many worldwide renowned artists including Kenneth Tse, Jean-Yves Fourmeau, Philippe Geiss etc.
Jacky, a member of the Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong Ltd., is actively involved in composition and arrangement works. He premiered his composition at the NASA Conference in 2019, and his microfilm score for Accident won the silver prize in the 2022 Microfilm Production Support Scheme.
As a conductor and band director, Jacky leads several orchestras and concert bands, participating in numerous performances and competitions. He is also dedicated to community work, having served as the Music Director of the Music Children Foundation, where he provided free music education and chamber music experiences to underprivileged children in Hong Kong.
Currently, Jacky is the Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong International Single Reed Association, score advisor for the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, principal conductor of MYO Orchestra-lite, and conductor of the Heep Yunn School Symphonic Band. He also performs as a first-call saxophonist for the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and Hong Kong Sinfonietta. In addition to teaching at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Jacky is recognized as a Vandoren artist.​
