Support MYO


Founded in 2003, Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Hong Kong (MYO) is a registered charity in HK and is one of the finest youth orchestras in Asia. MYO brings excellent classical music performances with the world's finest musicians and conductors every year to audiences in Hong Kong and all over the world, providing platform to showcase Hong Kong's music talents. MYO has collaborating with renowned artists, such as violin virtuoso Lu Siqing, the first Asian winner of the Paganini Violin Competition, world-renowned cellist Wang Jian, Korean pianist Michelle Kim and renowned local pianist Nancy Loo, young pianist Colleen Lee among others. In August 2008, MYO was invited to perform in the finale concert of the Aberdeen International Youth Festival and the opening performance of the British Youth Orchestra Festival and was the only youth orchestra in Asia being invited to both Festivals. In July 2007, MYO was invited to the Shanghai International Children's Theatre Festival to perform with the Magic Circle Mime from the US in the Shanghai Concert Hall and was given the "Excellent Production Award".

MYO's mission is to pursue artistic excellence, as well as to "serve the community through music". MYO donates concert proceeds to support various social organizations such as, The Boys' & Girls Clubs Association of Hong Kong, the China Literacy Foundation for rural children education in China, Po Leung Kuk, Little Life Warrior Society of Lady Pao Children's Cancer Centre, Prince of Wales Hospital, Department of Paediatrics, The Chinese University of Hong Kong among others. In January 2009, MYO collaborated with the Hong Chi Association in concert. MYO members joined hands with Lau Chi-ming who suffered from mild mental handicap and autism in Mozart's piano concerto, touching the hearts of over 1,000 audiences. In November 2009, MYO collaborated with Nick Vuijicic, Australian life warrior who was born without limbs in concert to spread love and hope to Hong Kong.

Without receiving funds from the government, the artistic achievement of MYO is well recognised. Since establishment, MYO has performed various regular public concerts, and went overseas for different international music festivals and events by invitation every summer, acting as Hong Kong's ambassador to introduce the music and culture of Hong Kong to the world. MYO needs support from corporations and individuals to help upbringing the Orchestra's artistic standard, to become one of the most influential youth orchestras in Asia, to continue the service to the community through music and to let more talented young people to receive the best orchestral training.

We need your support in helping MYO to nurture more and more music talents through orchestral training and contributing to the future development Hong Kong's arts and culture.

Annual Fund
In supporting the Annual Fund, you will help out the daily operational costs of MYO, including inviting renowned professional musicians to work with the Orchestra, hiring professional conductors and coaches to coach, venue rental, music scores purchase and rental, transportation of large instruments, production of concerts, overseas music festivals and performances. Your support will help upbringing the MYO to become one of the best youth orchestra in Asia.

Instrument Advancement Scheme
In supporting the Instrument Advancement Scheme, MYO will be able to buy necessary instruments required for different orchestrations. Through the advancement of instruments, the artistic level and performing standard will be highly raised. It enables MYO to bring wonderful music to the public.

Scholarship to outstanding students
In supporting the scholarship to outstanding students, you could help the students with financial difficulties yet outstanding to continue their study with the MYO and participate in the overseas music festivals. Your donation will give valuable opportunities to those talented students in need to receive professional music training, as well as help nurturing Hong Kong's outstanding musicians.
