Presented by the PMA Music Foundation in association with the Music Therapy Development Centre, the third voluntary service of the Music Angel Program (MAP) will be held at the hall at 8/F (East Wing) of the Headquarter Building of the Hong Kong Society for the Blind on March 19, 2005 (Saturday).

Similar to the previous two MAP services, a number of “Stars of Angel”including Mr. Rupert Chan - a well-known author, translator, playwright and lyric writer, Mr. Yuen Che-hung - a famous story teller and Ms. Phyllis Lau – a participant for Theatre-in-Education will attend in this service.

This service will focus on the children with visual impair including those suffered from poor vision and the blind. It is scheduled to include games, sharing, and a mini music performance. A total of five teams of Music Angels will play various excerpts such as “Emperor Quartet” by Haydn, “The Elephant” from the Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saens and “Flight of the Bumble Bee” by Rimsky Korsakov, etc. while one of the“Stars of Angel”- Mr. Yuen Che-hung will narrate an original script written by Ms Noel Leung regarding an adventure of a naughty boy. The music for this service is arranged by Mr. Choi Ho-man, the Artistic Director of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra (MYO) and two other MYO instructors, Mr. Alex Yu and Alan Yeung.

All Music Angels and their parents to take part in this service will attend a pre-service seminar entitled “Keys to Harmoniousness”, which will be conducted by Miss Joanna Chan Mei Yuk, the founder of the Music Therapy Developmental Centre to deliver proper concepts and knowledge in dealing with people with various disabilities on March 14, 2005 (Monday) at 8pm room CR1, Hong Kong Cultural Centre.

Through the MAP, the PMA Music Foundation wishes to encourage the youths to participate in voluntary services. As Music Angels, the youths will learn to develop themselves into a philanthropic role model to bring music, caress and laughter to the pre-defined target groups. Most of the Music Angels are selected from the MYO.

Enclosed is a list of the scheduled services by which the Music Angels are to be in various forms of musical ensembles to pay visits to the pre-defined target groups once a month in a weekend from January to June 2005.

The MAP – a meaningful and interesting program for our next generation to learn to serve our community by means of music.
